My team and I designed a mobile companion app for the fictional NexJacket, a modular, sensor-enabled wearable jacket that safely and securely tracks and analyzes biometric health data. Designed to support all lifestyles and emergency scenarios, the app provides users with real-time updates on vitals like heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure, and step count, while enabling phone-free emergency protocols, live data visualizations and summaries, and contextual insights through its clean, responsive interface. To ensure our feature set aligned with realistic user needs and industry expectations, we conducted secondary research into existing health wearables, biometric data standards, and mobile interfaces for companion devices.
Other key features include secure biometric authentication, context-aware haptic feedback, and a modular system for syncing jacket components across multiple devices. From voice-activated mic toggles to a wrist-level control panel, the app serves as a digital bridge between the user and their physical wearable, prioritizing safety, data privacy, ease of use, and intuitive feedback. Through these considerations, we produced a design and interface that could thrive in motion-heavy, on-the-go settings.
